  • Profile information: phone number, job title, role, industry, interests, bio, LinkedIn profile URL, and profile tagline
  • Membership details: whether you are a business owner, referral source, and activity preferences
  • Sponsor and partner enquiries: company name, contact name, email, phone number, sponsorship tier preference, event interests, and messages
  • Event expressions of interest: email address, name, and preferred activity
  • Event attendance: records of events you attend through our platform
  • Testimonials: name, title, and quote (submitted voluntarily)

3. How We Collect Information

We collect personal information directly from you when you:

  • Create an account or join our community
  • Update your member profile
  • Submit a sponsor, partner, or venue enquiry
  • Express interest in an event or activity
  • Submit a testimonial
  • Contact us by email

We may also collect information from third-party event platforms (such as Humanitix) when you purchase tickets to our events, including your name and email address for attendance records.

Providing your personal information is voluntary. However, if you choose not to provide certain information, we may not be able to create your account, process your enquiry, or provide you with access to certain features of our community.

4. Why We Collect Information

We collect and use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • To operate and manage the happierhour.club community and your membership
  • To authenticate your identity and provide access to your account
  • To communicate with you about events, community updates, and your account (transactional emails)
  • To send you marketing communications about upcoming events and community news (only with your express opt-in consent)
  • To facilitate networking and introductions between members (only if you enable networking visibility)
  • To process and respond to sponsor, partner, and venue enquiries
  • To improve our services, events, and community experience
  • To comply with our legal obligations

5. Disclosure to Third Parties

We will not sell your personal information to third parties. We may disclose your information to the following service providers who assist us in operating our platform:

  • Supabase — database hosting and authentication services
  • Resend — email delivery services
  • Humanitix — event ticketing and attendance management (Australian-based)
  • Vercel — website hosting and infrastructure

These providers are engaged to assist us in delivering our services and are required to handle your information in accordance with their own privacy obligations.

6. Overseas Disclosure

Some of the third-party services we use process and store data outside Australia. In particular:

  • Supabase — data may be processed in the United States
  • Resend — email data is processed in the United States
  • Vercel — website hosting infrastructure is located in the United States

Before disclosing personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, in accordance with APP 8.1.

7. Cookies and Tracking

Our website uses only essential, functional cookies that are necessary for the operation of the site:

  • Authentication cookie: a secure, httpOnly cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 7 days
  • Verification cookie: a temporary, secure cookie used during email verification (expires after 10 minutes)

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, session recording tools, or third-party analytics services that track individual users. Fonts used on this website are self-hosted — no data is sent to external font providers.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. These measures include:

  • Passwords are stored in securely hashed form, never in plain text
  • Authentication tokens are transmitted over HTTPS only
  • Rate limiting is applied to login and signup endpoints to prevent abuse
  • Security headers (HSTS, X-Frame-Options, Content Security Policy) are configured on all pages
  • Administrative access is restricted to authorised personnel only

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain it by law.

If you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we will retain your email address on our unsubscribe list to ensure we do not send you further marketing communications.

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct any information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, or misleading
  • Request deletion of your personal information and account
